How They Sold Their Late Family Member’s Rental Property

Mr. H had passed leaving his estate to be divided between his two adult children.  He named his friendly ex-wife as executor.   Mom and daughter worked together to co-ordinate everything.

The property had been rented to three separate tenants. The first order of business was getting each of them to move out. With that done there was some minor deferred maintenance to be done.  This was completed with the assistance of a handyman family friend.

The property was listed for sale with us and we held two open houses. It drew a great deal of interest form both potential owner occupants and investers.  It was sold to an invester and closed straightforwardly without major investment in any repairs or upgrades.

Completing the sale enabled closing out the estate paperwork an directing the proceeds to paying off student loan debt and ongoing college expenses.  The family moved forward.
